How to Tell a Cheater

After conducting statistical scientific studies, Dr. Glenn D. Wilson from the London Institute of Psychiatry conceived a list of behaviors that make a person more inclined to commit adultery. Here are 10 of these habits that will help you assess how much you (or your mate) are likely to cheat in your relationships.

1. Mirror, mirror on the wall…
Apparently, people who enjoy spending a lot of time admiring themselves in the mirror are more inclined to cheat on their partners. So beware of those who can’t get enough of their own image, they might not be right for you.

2. Pranks and practical jokes
Playing practical jokes on others is an indicator of a personality predisposed to adultery. And the cruder the jokes, the higher the chances that this person might be a romantic ‘player’ also.

3. Sexual history
The number and nature of sexual experiences that someone had before entering a relationship is a strong predictor for how much the current relationship will last or at least how honest it will be. People with a more promiscuous past are much likely to yearn for it while in a serious partnership.

4. Parent’s faithfulness
Well all know the environment we grow up in is likely to influence us in powerful ways. Apparently, people whose parents cheated on each other are also more likely to cheat themselves in their relationships. Yes, just like the apple and the tree.

5. Loyalty expectations
What your partner expects from you in what concerns your faithfulness is a very telling clue. So don’t be too happy if your partner seems to be really tolerant and understanding towards possible occasional lapses – they might be just as tolerant with their own behavior.

6. Novelty attraction
People who are very attracted to whatever’s new and love to permanently try out new things and sensations might do that in their romantic lives as well.

7. Horror movies
If your partner can’t get enough horror flicks, it might be that they’re also inclined towards cheating.

8. Religious convictions
No big surprises here – it appears that very religious people are less likely to be unfaithful than atheists and agnostics. They think God is watching.

9. Always late
Lack of punctuality in what concerns meetings and social events might indicate a greater proclivity for adultery compared to people who are always on time. It probably has something to do with conscientiousness and responsibility.

10. Lights on
Surprisingly enough, people who prefer to leave lights on at night (while they sleep, don’t think anything naughty), appear to be more inclined to cheat.

Of course only one of these behaviors alone does not necessarily indicate a cheater, but watch out for multiple signs – there usually seems to be truth to these scientific studies.
